Let’s be honest: there is nothing worse than stepping out of a hot shower into a bathroom that feels like a walk-in freezer. Most of us grew up with those old-school “lamp heaters.” They’re okay for a bit, but they usually struggle in a steamy bathroom because they aren’t actually built for the damp. That’s why we’re seeing more people move toward high-standard waterproof infrared heaters. We aren’t talking about a simple lightbulb anymore; we’re talking about sealed systems designed to actually survive the humidity. The secret is in how the heat hits you. Most heaters try to warm up the air. But in a bathroom, that warm air just floats away or disappears the second a draft hits the door. It’s a losing battle. Infrared is different. These systems pull a bit more power to get that intense heat, so you’ll want to double-check that your wiring can handle the load. Nobody wants their circuit breaker tripping right in the middle of a morning routine. Also, placement is everything. These units have a different footprint than old bulbs. If you mount them too low, you’ll get “hot spots”—basically, one part of your shoulder feels like it’s baking while your toes are still freezing. Stick to the manufacturer’s layout for the height. It keeps the warmth even and makes sure you’re comfortable, not irritated.
