
Keeping Your Bathroom Warm (Without the Blinding Light)
Most bathroom infrared heaters are great at one thing: getting you warm the second you step out of the shower. But there’s a catch. They usually rely on short-wave radiation, which creates that intense, bright light. If you’ve ever felt that glare hitting your eyes—or worried about how it affects a baby’s sensitive vision—you know exactly what I mean. It’s a bit too much.
Fixing the Glare
We decided to handle this by tweaking how the light actually works. Instead of using a basic clear quartz tube, we use specialized coatings and dopants on the glass. Think of it like a filter. It blocks the harsh, blinding white light but lets all that cozy thermal energy slide right through. You get the heat, but you don’t have to squint. It’s not about making the room look “moody” or pretty; it’s about making sure your eyes don’t feel stressed out.
The Tech Side of Things
Inside the unit, there’s a tungsten filament tucked into a halogen-filled quartz tube. The halogen part is key because it lets the filament run hotter, which makes the heat feel more efficient. We also use high-purity quartz so the tube doesn’t crack when it goes from cold to scorching hot in a few seconds. Here is the trade-off, though. Since those filters block some of the light, they can slightly dampen the heat output. To make sure you still feel that same blast of warmth, we might bump up the wattage. Just a heads-up: if you’re installing a bunch of these in one place, double-check your circuit load so you don’t trip a breaker.
Getting it on the Wall
These are meant to be wall-mounted. We’ve wrapped them in moisture-resistant housings because, well, bathrooms are steamy, and electricity and steam aren’t great friends. When you’re wiring them up, just make sure your cables can handle the peak current. You don’t want any burnt-out connections. And one last thing—give the heater some breathing room. Keep towels or flammable stuff away from the unit, because that quartz tube gets seriously hot while it’s running.
